Niall Hoskin (Baritone)              -         Jack

Niall sang in Clare College Choir, Cambridge and read Modern Languages.  He lives with Judith and a very vocal Jack Russell called Dimple in Dundry, near Bristol. Having taught languages for ages, he now works as a freelance translator.

Niall’s opera performances have included title roles in Orfeo, Don Giovanni, Nabucco, Macbeth, Gianni Schicchi, The Bear, The Flying Dutchman, The Mikado and Falstaff. He also created the role of Major Karl Evers in Eric Wetherell’s A Foreign Field. His translating has also been on stage: his version of the Mozart/Strauss Idomeneo was performed at the Buxton Festival.

Niall shared the platform on several occasions with Stan Tracey and his band in performances of Duke Ellington’s Sacred Concerts music, alongside Tina May and Norma Winstone. They performed on the South Bank, in York Minster, St Paul’s Cathedral and on BBC Radio 3, as well as recording the work.

Niall appears frequently in oratorio: most recently, in The Kingdom Elgar and Mozart’s Requiem.  Later in the season he will be performing in Judas Maccabeus Handel and Vaughan Williams’ Dona nobis pacem, and in a programme of songs by George Butterworth and Rudi Stephan in a WWI-themed recital in Bath.

At the top of Niall’s bucket list are Rigoletto Verdi, Belshazzar’s Feast Walton, and the Berlin Marathon.    Details are at www.niallhoskin.co.uk
